work avoidance
Nov. 1st, 2004 05:41 pmtelling part of my psychology:
I've spent the day avoiding finishing the modelling of natural ventilation for the building I working on. Unfortunately, I worked out how to get the model to work this morning, and I'm not interested in it anymore.
I've spent the day working on solving the problem of not enough hard disk space on my web server for all the photos from the weekend that I told everyone would be easy to put on my webserver.
I worked out how to mount my network drive and the second harddisk on the webserver machine (it was dual boot - not any more!) Now I have to change the permissions on the new drive and work out about mapping the wedding web pages to where apache sends the world when they want to look at my stuff.
I also finally worked out where to find straightforward, easy to follow, linux instruction and life has been much easier since then.
I'm also avoiding work because my mental deadline is too far away - wednesday means I can work on it tomorrow, after I've done this fun linux stuff. I always admired Mr Hornblower for his ability to feel a sense of urgency about stuff that didn't have to be done for ages, and the way it always worked out for the best, because he would suddenly get urgent orders, just as he was planning his first sleep in 36 hours. I'd like to think like that.
