No official word yet, I find out on the 16 May, but I have weird white spots on my oesophagus which the doctor thought might be thrush.

My first google search suggested that thrush in your oesophagus is a classic symptom of HIV(!!) but further reading suggests that it is also associated with 1. pregnancy and 2. chronic steroid use (like the stuff I take for my asthma) 3. reduced acid level in the stomach (like I should have after taking the medication I've been on to reduce my indigestion)

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a site that is not a wacky naturopathy site to tell me much more. The naturopathy sites suggest that it is also associated with nausea and bloating, but the medical sites don't mention it.

I will now ttry the american sites, where they spell "oesophagus", "esophagus" ..... They're not much better.

I have decided, however, in great internet self-diagnosis style, that I can blame this thrush stuff for the following life complaints; (From this trusty website)

Gastrointestinal: indigestion, gas, bloating, inflammation, pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, bad breath, dry mouth, coating on tongue, thrush.

Somatic and Allergic: numbness, burning or tingling; painful, swollen, stiff joints; muscle aches and tension, nasal congestion, head tension, headaches, blurred vision, tinnitis, shortness of breath, chest pains, weight loss dizziness, sinusitis, chemical sensitivity.

Mental/Emotional: depression, mental confusion, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, disorientation, impaired decision making, low energy, hyperactivity, agitation.

Skin: white fungal skin patches like dandruff, acne, athlete's foot, anal itch, diaper rash, psoriasis, dermatitis, impetigo, finger and toenail inflammation.

Sexual: vaginitis, discharge, itch, bladder infection, menstrual irregularities, pain, cramps, lowered libido, infertility, impotency, prostate problems.

Urinary: Frequent urination, burning and desire to urinate, fluid retention, edema.

See? I'm sick!
