It's great! and full of achievement!

We have (finally) bottled our ginger beer. Tastes OK based on licking my fingers last night. Finished at 1am (bad)

This morning I cleaned my garden. After our gardener sacked us, I was managing to keep it reasonably trim by just heading out there for 30min every couple of months. Then, during my pregnancy, I wasn't up for it, although I sprinkled a large number of parsley seeds on it last autumn. They have really taken off and were looking terrible because of all the seed heads. Today, the seed heads are all gone, the grapevine is no longer choking the tree and that nasty weedy vine with the sticky white sap is no longer working its way around the rose bush. Also, the grass that had gone to seed is eradicated from one of the four garden beds. I have achieved domesticity!

Then I had a lovely lunch with [livejournal.com profile] mr_bassman and, finally, took myself off to Prahran to buy fabric. $220 later, I have 7m of wool for invest frock, 4m of wool for invest over-frock, 2m of wool for a sideless surcoat at festival, and 10m of beautiful light weight white linen.

Here are some links I'd like to find again;

Did you use a plant for your ginger beer?

We use a concentrate for Fluffy Ginger Knickers and add a lot of raw sugar, tastes pretty good though!

No, I didn't use a plant.

I used this recipe: http://www.liquorcraft.com.au/wa.asp?idWebPage=13634&idDetails=107

Next time I won't use so much sugar - it's going to be about 7% !!

Yeah, we find ours usually has a high percentage. We generally just get a concentrate and pack from Country Brewer here in Sydney, comes with brew booster and stuff and usually put it on keg, though we make bottles for presents.

We're in the process of adding stuff to it to see if we can improve the recipe and next batch will probably have extra ginger concentrate in it because we really want to get that ginger kick.
