It seems like a busy few days, although I know I've managed to squeeze in the reading of 2, maybe 3, books.

I've been to two friends parties, organised and cooked a christmas eve dinner for my close family and slobbed around the house on christmas day. Until I went and had lovely christmas dinner with [livejournal.com profile] montjoye. I need to learn a bit more about glazed hams, and might even make the effort to get a ham from that fabbo smallgoods place in Musk. I can pick up some salami suitable for Festival at the same time.

The next few days won't be available for reading - we're making a new dining pavilion and will be locked away in a Hall in Kensington with 70m of canvas and an industrial sewing machine.

I've spent the morning arguing with my drafting package to let me use it again since installing XP. On a positive note, I've also found a program which will convert my existing drawing files into a format I can use with QCad, which I now have on my Linux boot, and seems quite a reasonable program.

Anyway, after all that, I now have the 1:20 drawings showing us how to cut the canvas.

Now for the lists - my loot;

a couple of art books - Holbein catalogue and Art in Milan
a book voucher
the latest Phryne book (already read it)
some chocolate
a DVD of Hogfather
and Laptop.

If you want me I shall be lounging on the couch with a very small computer on my lap.

The next list - what I'd like to do on my hols;

Research make clothes for Rose to wear at Festival;
- thinking about breeches and doublet, for the rain and mud factor and 'cos she'll look adorable in a flat cap. OTOH here's a pic of a child Rose's age and he's wearing skirts. Also, this is adorable. While I'm at it, this is fabbo too.
- linen underwear that's longer than what she has now
- lightweight wool dress, similar to her red one.
- research of aprons and hats for small children in 15th C Flanders - I haven't seen any aprons, but I know about small children, they have to be there somewhere!
- resolutions of the warm legs problem. This might mean wool pants/hose for under dresses, or just another pair of thermals/tights, or the afforementioned breeches

Make and paint a tent - see above

Participate and support MrPeacock's removal of stuff from my house and rearrange MsNotaGoth's room to fit a new cupboard and my enormous study desk and return. I'll also re-comfy the study and family room as part of this process.

Various Baronial /SCA projects (that aren't a tent);
- vigorously suggest that people attend the Stormhold Punitive Expedition - frequently
- sort out the mead and put it in a keg. I need to test it, possibly nutriate and re-yeast it, obtain non-porous bungs for the kegs, and keg it.
- make more piss, er.. cider and beer
- article on food suitable for consumption at Festival - that doesn't need refrigeration or complicated, time consuming preparation => maybe this is a class I can run, with dinner/lunch afterwards?
- write the second and third article/journal entries on the design/manufacture of tents. I should take lots of pictures in the next few days.

Encourage [livejournal.com profile] mr_bassman to begin work on the project he set in place about 6 months ago and is currently costing us $115 per month.

Draw up my renovation plans for submission for Town Planning Approval.

Start work on the exam for a course I did for work at the end of November which has to be completed by 14 Jan and has a pass mark of 80%.

10B has a list like this somewhere...
:-)

I like the idea for an article about food for Festival. Every time I find out how other people at Festival eat, I cry for their poor, impoverished lives.
