My RDO

I finally had the sort of day I imagined my RDO would be. I ran around like a blue-arsed fly and I'm exhausted, BUT:

I left my blood with the pathology lab before breakfast
My printer will be replaced under warranty in the next 5-10 days.
T has a new pair of jeans (she is now officially too large for the children's sized jeans)
I have reviewed the Brunswick fabric shops - unfortunately no bargains today.
We now have tomatoes, cheese and pasta to last the next 3 months
I comforted a girl (T) who came home from school crying after being teased by a supposed friend
I have bought wool to make a new cloak for Z.
and now I'm home with a dehydration/doing too much headache

I got a bit of a fright in Footscray. Vincent's was shut and the shop is being sold. Somebody needs to check it out and get the goss soon. If he's closing I need to get an extension on my homeloan to cover my wool requirements for the next 10 years.

I went around the corner to another fabric shop. As long as I was willing to buy the wools he recommended, the Hungarian man there was prepared to discount the wool he had from $30 to $12. So I was successful in buying Z cloak fabric, but we couldn't agree on the appropriate lining for the green half-circle cloak I want to make (using the green tweed of my parti-coloured cote-hardie) so I didn't buy anything for that.

[livejournal.com profile] doushkasmum, can you bring the 15th C tailors book and your copy of Janet Arnold to sewing tomorrow? Maybe they can help with doco for this cloak of Z's. I can't find a picture of the one I want anywhere but my copy of Kohler and I'd like to cross check it. Ideas anyone? If you have the book, it's fig. 327, otherwise it's described as "Pilgrim cloak of Stefan Praun, 1571" and is shaped over the shoulders, has a standing collar and buttoned frogging down the front. It goes to hip level.

BTW while searching to find a picture of the cloak I want to make and I found this amazing page of buttons from spanish wrecks.
