What a day!
Aug. 24th, 2004 06:12 pmI was up at 6.45am ( a bit difficult after my forced holiday) and went to an interview at 8am. It went well.
I went home and then caught a tram into town to meet a new recruitment consultant at 10am. On the the tram my mobile rang and I was offered the 8am job. When I got to the new recruiter he had already tee'd up an interview with an engineering firm at 11.30am.
The 8am job is a contract job for 4 weeks. The 11.30 job was suggested to be a contract fire engineer position, maybe later developing into a permanent mech engineer job, all going well.
I pfaffed around and went to the 11.30 interview. It went very well and they said they wanted to get someone in quickly, possibly tomorrow morning and they would get back to me this afternoon.
I've spent the aternoon on the couch, putting off committing to the 8am job, hassling the 10am recruiter everytime the 8am recruiter rang me and angsting how I should have just accepted the 8am job, gone to the 11.30 interview and then blown off 8am job when/if they finally gave me the 11.30 job.
It's now all over - I will be offered a permanent position as a fire/mechanical engineer.
I'm so glad I rang all of my contacts and a few extras yesterday. I contacted the 11.30 recruiter yesterday afternoon. Now I have a job. What a good birthday present.
