Brainwave!
Jun. 18th, 2007 10:58 pmI was looking at the Baronial Petition this morning, and reflecting on its value as a snapshot of what the Barony was, 19 years ago.
And then it hit.
For the Barony's 20th birthday, we should arrange a similar artwork/document with the badges and heraldry of the current populace. And everyone's names/signatures.
It needs to be a legitimate artwork, so that it's admired for years and can hang in people's houses with pride, like the baronial petition is. It shouldn't be something that could become one of the sad pieces of regalia that we keep in a box and pull out occasionally to recognise the work that went into it, but can't find a use for.
We need to encourage people to register their arms over the next 12 months, so that they can be recognised forever.
If it can't hang on a wall in someone's house, maybe it could be something that we bring out regularly at a particular event, something we make a tradition around.
