Waste management
Dec. 24th, 2008 09:58 amI have so many things I need to do today! I need to leave here in about 2.5 hours, with presents for my friends and all my family gifts sorted. I also need to make sure we have the food we need tomorrow. But I'm going to write this instead.
For Midwinter I intend to prepare a waste management plan. I would like to aim for zero waste to landfill. I might not get there, but I'll put in place processes to maximise the chances of it happening. I also want to write the plan in a way that means that other SCA events can put similar plans in place for their events. My focus is on kitchen waste, but if I see other stuff and it's reasonably simple to implement, I'll include it.
I'm all inspired because today I finally found these two organisations: http://www.fareshare.org.au/index.php and http://www.secondbite.org/
Outline:
Sources of Waste
How to reduce waste
How to reuse waste
How to recycle waste
What we need workers to do
What we need participants to do
Other stuff
Also, I really like this article, which has nothing to do with waste management, but has a lot to do with why I like Christmas.
