Work anxiety - a poem
Mar. 27th, 2012 04:57 pm[ ] Woken from the first doze
[ ] Heart pounding and brain reviewing the terror to come
[ ] Quick! What do I have to do tomorrow?
[ ] What have I forgotten?
[ ] Sleep! That's important too.
[ ] Woken by my mate, my brain says
[ ] "what should I be doing now?"
[ ] And instead of replying "sleep"
[ ] I start reviewing the morning
[ ] So many things to-do
[ ] So many lists
[ ] I rebel
[ ] And lie on the couch rather than
[ ] wash dishes or
[ ] sweep floors
[ ] The work list can't suffer
[ ] But I can
Then I get to work, write the short list and start.
Calmly, efficiently, one thing at a time.
