What made you choose them?
They were the last brand to be sold in a box, without plastic wrapping. They aren't anymore, but I couldn't work out what to buy instead.

Being sold without plastic wrapping

Libra ultrathins with wings.
I use goodnights, super & light. I used to just buy regular, but after the PCOS appeared I swapped to supers for the first few days & then lights.
Why- because they are big & wide & have wings, but are not thick & lumpy.
I'm pretty happy with their performance, but I would like them to be less plasticy.
Also some brand with pink wrappers (they son't seem to have the brand on them & I must have thrown out the bag/box) G string pads with wings.
Why- because I use these when dancing (a tampon is not enough to get me through a 1.5 hr class). They taper so you don't have a line showing at the back of your bum.
Tampons- some in brightly coloured boxes? I last bought tampons at least 4 years ago, but I don't use them very often, and when my mum went through menopause she sent me about 6 boxes of them. I gave some away and I am still working my way through the rest.
Why- well, they were free.
What would make them better- I'd use tampons more if they didn't make my cramps worse.
Also panty liners occasionally.
U brand by Kotex & Libra G-string liners
Why- no real reason for picking the kotex ones, while the G-string ones are for dancing.
I did consider using recyclable cloth pads, but after experimenting with linen & lasting less than 2 hours I decided that maybe cloth pads weren't very practical for me.

I must confess I've never been able to imagine them being remotely useful at all. Sort of like handing someone a bandaid when their leg's fallen off.
And expecting them to shove said bandaid into their bum crack, of course.

Date: 2004-07-20 05:19 am (UTC)I never use the G string pads alone- they are just for dancing. And during the worst days I don't dance, partly because of the pain and partly because of the extreme bleeding. I don't want to have an accident during class and scar the pre-teens for life!!!!

What made you choose them?
-flexible, ultra-thin, has wings. the wings don't get all stuck together in the unwrapping (note to sanitary product manufacturers: IMPORTANT!!) comparatively cheaper. also habit :)
-i just think they're comfy and a good shape

cheaper. for us 8-day girls, the expense is more inconvenient than the actual menstruating... :(

far and away the most comfy. they're cottony, not plasticy, and don't come in stupid novelty packaging; they come in a zip-lock little pack which doesn't fall apart in your bag. and they're not expensive either. [i clearly get paid to endorse them ;)]
What would make them better?
*shrug* aah...how can one improve on perfection? ;)
p.s. which brand is the one with "interesting" facts printed on the bit of paper you peel off the back of the pads? and it's called "knowledge SPOT" or something really inappropriate? SUCH a waste of time! just don't print them, and give me 20 cents off the pack instead. yeah!

Why? They're a huge improvement on the thick ones I grew up with. (not even sure you can buy those ones anymore)And they come in their own dandy little packets.
Improvement: Is it my imagination or are they getting more pricey? They could be cheaper. And if you listen carefully, you can hear them crinkle- that's not good.
Tampons - mini ones. Carefree I think - the company that killed all those people a with toxic shock, about 20 years ago .
Why? Because I have a death wish.
No really, I rarely use tampons because I have a light flow and because I think they are bad for you. I use mini because you should, for safety reasons, always use the lightest size you can get away with.
Improvements: cost. Do they still attract the 70%luxury tax? Safety: I understand they are still a 'cosmetic' item and therefore not subject to the sort of hygeine standards I'd like in something I'm going to be shoving up myself on a semi-regular basis. Which is another reason I try to avoid them. Further on safety: they're bleached. I'd happily buy non bleached cotton corkies if I could find them(seen them once or twice).
Less plastic would be nice, but I have enough things to do in my life to make me disinclined to use re-usable products. Washing out the monthly rags just doesn't appeal somehow.
