Well I sort of knew it was coming

mrsbrownI was made redundant today.
My manager said, " Can I see you for a minute?" I sat down and he started giving me the blurb about how hard he's tried to find enough work for the group. I knew then, he was going to say, "We've had to make your position redundant" and he did.
At this time I was able to just pack up my desk and leave. I don't have to go to work tomorrow and pretend that everything's ok. Last time I was made redunandant (oddly, by the same man, in a different company) I had to go to work for the entire 4 weeks. It was awful, and I knew I didn't want to do it again.
I don't have to pretend everything is ok at work tomorrow, but I do have to pretend everything is ok tomorrow when I talk to the recruiting agencies who might be able to help me find a job.
I also have to pretend everything is ok when my children ask me stuff, or demand my attention, while I'm busy trying to mope.
I had a look at the jobs online (I love the internet! it's so much easier than last time I was unemployed) and I did get a little excited about some of the stuff available out there. There were at least 10 jobs I could seriously consider, and that's not including the jobs in Sydney, or Perth, or New Zealand (they were/are tempting) I'll follow them up with the agency.
Funny item of this whole thing: At about 3.30pm I had a call from the Recruitment Agency. "Can you talk? How's it going?" "I can't really talk, but I won't call you back, it's ok at the moment" I replied. He sounded a little confused at my response. At 4pm I got the tap on the shoulder. I think he knew I was redundant, before I did. We'll have a smile about that when I ring him or see him tomorrow.
I'm putting off calling my family - I don't want to explain it all again.
