sick at home
Dec. 11th, 2003 10:37 amwoke up this morning with stinging, funny smelling urine. That's why I was sooo tired yesterday.
Mum suggested cranberry tablets, with so much vitamin C that germs don't have a chance in my bladder - I'll do that and lots of water before resorting to a doctor's visit.
so I'm still tired, my tummy hurts a bit and that's sufficient justification for me to stay home. I really need to ask my boss if I can work a 9 day fortnight. Then I won't have to justify these "catch-up" days and I can go shopping or sleep if I feel like it.
I need a day when there is no one at home, when the shops are open and everyone else is at work so I can feel properly [insert word that is; pleased, privileged, different, skiting etc]
My mum was here and we had a discussion about society and the way it makes no space for children and how that is reflected in the way people who didn't choose to have children treat their own children. I want to write more about this later.
we also talked about welfare/taxes and how we see them as philanthropy. I give my money to the government to make sure that the people who need education, healthcare etc get it. I could write more about that too.
My mum says "and stuff like that" to finish her sentences. It's a sign of her sloppy thinking and it annoys me. Maybe she's only done it since her brain operation. I remember being pulled up on a similar habit by Mum's boyfriend when I was a teenager, so it's sort of weird to see her do it.
I think I'm going to lie down now.
