I've spent the evening investigating a trip to Newcastle next weekend. It would be fun to see the SCA crowd and be there for the formal announcement of the new Baron and Baroness Stormhold.
We could fly up on Friday or Saturday morning, hire a car, organise somewhere cheap to stay, persuade the steward that we deserve a cheap family rate and attend the coronation and tourney, and then fly home on sunday night.
Unfortunately, sanity has prevailed and we won't spend more than $1000 on a weekend's entertainment OR disrupt Rose's routine just before I start back at work and
mr_bassman has daytime responsiblity for Rose. Being a grownup is such a pain.
On the plus side, T and I are consoling ourselves with the thought that we can save some money and go to New Zealand for the coronation in July (actually, that doesn't sound like a great time for being tourists in NZ, unless we go ski-ing).
Yes, I have only one more week of maternity leave and I have HUGE plans. By next monday the laundry will be fully operational, my bedroom will be possible to find clothes in and walk through, my children will have everything they need for school, Rose will be in her new routine, and I will have expressed at least another 4 feeds. In my dreams, I also imagine that Rose will have her entire Festival wardrobe, I will have at least one new SCA outfit, the kitchen lino will have been pulled up, I will have found a hall for the baronial sunshade project, made T a spiffy new gambeson, cleared my desk, put out Stormscroll, relaxed, read one or two books, gotten my bike serviced, watched the last episode of the latest Dr Who series and the christmas special, priced canvas for the baronial sunshade project, found out what's wrong with my liver, organised my new IUD, had Rose immunised, solved the issues with fighter training in Stormhold, ate and slept.
In my spare time, I think I will see about brokering world peace.
