On Wednesday I was asked into the HR manager's office for a "quick chat".

On Thursday, before leaving work for the last time ever, I carefully saved my useful work email as a .pst file.

I don't have Outlook and my quick search reveals that any software which advertises it's ability to convert or read .pst files will only work if you have Outlook installed on your computer.

If I had Outlook, I wouldn't need a .pst reader - I'd already have one.

F%^&%$king Microsoft!!!

Only available in source code (tar.gz) format so you'd need to compile it, but it does the job.

I'm pretty sure you can import a mail archive from Outlook into Mozilla.

Failing that, I have Outlook.

Yis, I'm sure you can too.

Yes, that's what I thought. Until I tried it.

A bit of reading now reveals that you can only import outlook data if you have Outlook installed. Mozilla won't even import a random .pst file, only the one saved in the "right" place, by Outlook.

I think I will be using your Outlook to convert this file to something more useable.

Buggerissimo!

No trauma. At least not yet....

I'm a bit excited to be honest. I'm looking forward to the challenge of working somewhere new and quite happy to spend a couple of weeks on Festival preparation.

OTOH, maybe I'll spend some days on the couch when the adrenalin wears off. So thanks for the hug.

*looks shifty* I know someone who can get you a bottle of adrenaline...

Well, okay, I don't. But I wish you smooth mood-sailing, better employment things and that you reap comfortable Festival preparation from this remarkably timed ... opportunity.
