A few weeks I saw this fabric and I'm still wondering if I should buy it. It's silk and it is $45/m.

It's part of my new fabric addiction technique. If I like something, I take a photo and leave the shop.
In a similar vein, I found wool cashmere at Brunswick Fabrics (Sydney Rd, near Albert St) for $11.99/m
I persuaded them to give me some samples, on the basis that I was planning to tell all my friends, so here:

The navy blue in the background is the fabric I bought to make some more "Hoods of Warmth". I'm also planning to make a trial houppelande for Rose from it.
The two samples on the right aren't thick cashmere, they're just wool. The blue one is $8.99/m.

Date: 2007-06-23 09:13 am (UTC)If memory serves, Eliza's shop in Sunshine has (or at least, had) wool cashmere for $8 - $10 a metre. There were cheaper wooly fabrics, too, though I suspect they might have been wool blends. They have quite a bit of plaid wool of different weight and texture, as well.
