When we're feeling a bit down we are "flat as a tack".

but when we squash something, we squash it "flat as a pancake"

Which is flatter? and why do I feel like crap today?

I wrote that at work and then decided it was time to get some exercise (hoping to make me feel better). It was raining so I walked home instead of cycling.

The walk included several pauses to take metaphorical breath and make myself keep walking despite the wave of despair.

Now I'm home and the bustle of the evening routine means there is no space to tell anyone, except the world, how crap I'm feeling.

Current theories on my emotional state:

- lack of some vitamin (not iron; steak for dinner last night and mandarins for arvo tea for the last week, maybe B6)
- menstruation
- lack of exercise
- lack of sleep
- stress
- lack of progress

The Spring Equinox is on Saturday. (Sounds like a good excuse for a party to me.)

Perhaps there should be an "all of the above" checkbox at the bottom of that list?

Hey, other people feel like that too sometimes? whoa, be good to yourself. If it works like it does for me, then this too will pass. I have a similar list of possible causes and often cannot work out which is the most likely suspect. I do know that the black dog will go away after a few days at most. Exercise is both a good palliative and preventer- need to remember that for myself.

Oh dear. Just reading now.

I hope the concert raised things up a bit, anyhow. It did for me; I had been very flat all day. Stress, lack of sleep the obvious suspects for me.

You know, as I said the other night, it's really been a bugger of a year all round.

The concert did help, a bit of meditation time I think.

Also the dragging into chirpyness and being kept there for long enough for it to stick.

Anyway, dancing was...interesting. I _think_ I had a good time.
