Cider I can drink at the same rate as everyone else enjoyed the beer.

Maybe beer is suppposed to taste slightly yucky, so the barrel influence isn't as noticable.

Beer is so not meant to taste slightly yucky. Or even yucky at all! but I think a drink for you is a fine plan

I liked the cider, even more on the second day. I liked the beer more on the second day too. I think your taste in cider is too much influenced by the soft drink stuff you can get commercially. The barrel did give it a woody undertone, we should try the chestnut barrel option perhaps? Can we try it out with a tavern night event. I think it is legal if we charge for the food and give the booze away.
