[livejournal.com profile] maxlu179 posted pictures this evening of his new tent. It's a lot like the soldiers tent we made for my children a few years ago, but his seems to be more taut than ours. Also, a bit bigger, which is sensible.

Also, as [livejournal.com profile] sjkasabi predicted a while ago, the next step in tent making is to sew it by hand. I think he did.

Here are the pictures I have of the soldier's tents.

I think he has a ridge pole. Note the absence of spikes at the corners. His canvas is also new, give it a couple of years to stretch 8-> But a ridge pole would make a big difference to the shape. Hand sewing tents may well be the next step, yes. Who in this circle of RSI afflicted people do you nominate? 8->

Indeed that is a very sleek tent.

I interpret the little protrusion at the top end of the tent as encasing the end of a substantial ridge pole. Then I imagine the uprights slotting in to the ridge pole somehow, making the internal structure look something like "π".

Dagnabbit! Arial is the wrong font face for what I'm trying to describe. Capital Pi better illustrates what I mean when imagined in a font with serifs.
