spent some time going through my favourite shopping list of medieval tent designs tonight.

[livejournal.com profile] eruditothis is the closest to what you were describing last night: )

From my records, Rowan's tent is 2,8m x 5m. Note the horse, so I'd say it's about 4.5m. But ignore that, Rowan's tent is about 3m tall.

For a reminder: )

So It would look like this: (I have autocadded it but I can't be bothered sorting out the whole conversion, posting and linking process.) Basically, like [livejournal.com profile] tenbears tent it is based on the standard width of canvas, ie the walls and roof pieces are about 1.9m wide.

You will need 16m of the wall canvas and a bit less than 16m of roof canvas. You will also need 16m of valance, but that'll only be 500mm wide at most so 4m would be enough.

If you want to work out a budget - the canvas is about $15/m and you will need a lot of broomstick handles and someone who knows the right end of a welder.
