Is on this weekend and there are a bunch of nifty brochures I picked up for stuff I would consider using.

I think the coolest is the the veggie bed you can buy, installed for $695. What a fabbo business idea!!

I also found another co-housing group, who look like they might manage something in the area I'm interested in living. http://www.urbancoup.org nThe person who started it is someone I've heard of in a professional capacity, and is an architect. I think it likely that this could come off.

I think I'll be buying one of these bicycle bags, especially as they seem to have a local distributor.

I've been looking longingly at this bike/shopping trolley for a while now, but I have a tricycle that fits the same niche and does other stuff besides.

I'm also now experimenting with a menstrual cup and some fabric pads. The cup is a bit of a challenge, but I'm giving it the weekend to get easier.

Those bicycle baskets are so cute- makes me want to own a bike so I can use one. I'll get there eventually.

Good luck with the sewing. I have taken most of the morning to cut one chemise, in between other boring stuff like laundry.

I have tried both a menstrual cup and fabric pads and will probably be going back to both in my time of austerity. I find the cup challenging too, and I'm not terribly comfortable with the fabric pads and a shared washing line. But they both do the job well enough.

I wanted to get to the sustainability expo - heck, I wanted to live there for the whole weekend - but it does not fit in around family commitments, so I'm at home sewing superhero costumes and pouting. *sigh*

I had vague plans to try and get to that. Instead I've been browsing online.

Did you see The Lao silk people by any chance? I was curious about their yarn.

I didn't see them last night, but I saw them last year.

They were unwrapping silk from cocoons. It was cool.

Menstrual cups? Darn, I didn't see those. I was there today poking around. I loved the VEG beds as well, and picked up stuff for the HotBeam lights - the solar-powered LED waterproof units. I'd seen those a while back and am now starting to think seriously about getting some for various spots around the farm. It's nice to have darkness, but there are a few "Ohmigod I forgot to turn the water off!" taps out in the middle of nowhere that could occasionally do with being more visible at 11pm. The bicycle options on display were all very cool - I want to know a bit more about the Glyde pedal-powered thingies. The winning moment for us though was that James got to chat to another dad who happened to be carrying a newborn in a on-your-front baby carrier, which James plans to get. That was handy.

Can you keep us informed about the outcome with the cups?

I've never heard of those before. They look interesting.
