The weather in May makes me feel good
May. 10th, 2004 11:17 pmToday was one of those days that remind me it's nearly my eldest son's birthday.
Nearly 16 years ago I felt about the best I have felt in my whole life and days like today are a little reminder.
I'd just moved into the first house I ever owned. I'd worked for a while, as I got larger and larger, and one day, when I got of the train, I stopped, turned around and went home again.
I spent 6 weeks washing nappies in a wringer washing machine, like my mum had when I was very small. Hanging nappies on the line in the beautiful May sunshine, under the apricot tree. Knitting weird arse baby clothes in striking colours. Reading pregnancy books over and over again. Being in lerv and excited.
Just before squeezing my fingers in the wringer started to pall and it got too cold, my Dad came over with a new washing machine and installed a gas heater and hot water service, all on the same day!
It was the best episode of Happy Families I've ever played.
