mr_bassman decided to work on the tiles in the bathroom.

encouraged by the ease and success of that, he decided to take the tiles near the shower off the wall, cut away the masonite underneath and replace it with cement sheet, finally returning the tiles to the wall.

He took off the tiles. He pulled away the masonite. He called me. Insistantly.

We have termites.

I know that termites are more likely where there is damp and rotting - our bathroom has those. The rest of the house doesn't, so maybe that's the only area of infestation.

The good news - the most likely termite enclaves are in walls where the renovation plan calls for demolition.

The bad news - maybe they are in more places.

The good news - mr_bassman will continue to put the tiles on the wall and the bathroom will look better. Houses sell better if they look liveable.

The bad news - I'm completely overwhelmed and unlikely to do anything.
