G and a friend are coming with us to the feast today.

G wants a new tunic, he is sick of his renaissance outfit, and wants to go 13thC.

I now have G and his friend sewing tunics together, (with an hour until we want to leave - what a great introduction to the SCA!) it's sort of cosy ( I don't know how to spell the dutch word [livejournal.com profile] monstah) the boys are sort of chatting about the stuff 16 year old boys do while sewing and being surprised how easy it is.

But the best part of the day was when I tried to get a second sewing machine together for B to use. I opened out my treadle, and it became obvious that they weren't going to get it working in time. I pulled out my old sewing machine that I hate, and B tried to get that one going. It didn't work, I knew there was a reason I stopped using it. Then B made the leap that made my day.

He pulled the electric motor off my crap machine and turned my treadle machine into an electric one. It was really easy!! The treadle machine had a screw hole in exactly the right place to mount the electric motor, using the bracket from the electric machine.

I now have a dual boot sewing machine!

Quite a lot of treadles got converted to electric, so I'm not surprised that it was so easy to do. Yay! Now you have the best of both worlds, plus teens enabling teens to make their own tunics.

The MP3 player was on random, and those were what played while I wrote.
