St Kilda

I went to St Kilda last night, after work, with a bunch of English and Irish people - working visa types.

We sat outside the Espy and watched the sun go down - I've never done that before. We They talked about parties and travel. It was very pleasant and I drank cider. It went well with the wine I had drunk earlier.

J came and sat with us and later, the evening with work folks came to an end.

J and I wandered along the Acland st and found some food. It was good. We wandered some more and found cake. It was ok.

We wandered again and checked out Luna Park. We enjoyed watching other people on scary rides.

Then we mosi'ed back to the car, via checking out the St Kilda Sea Baths, and went home, where I realised I had more to drink than I possibly should have and wrote a silly PDA entry from my spinning bed.

It was a delightful bonding time, and we felt like we'd been in a foreign country. I've never really spent any time in St Kilda.

You're very lucky they didn't turn you away at the St Kilda border. You're not allowed in any more without a special pass if you're not from England, Ireland or Germany. Swedes and other assorted Europeans are allowed in on special occasions, and rent-a-crowd actors are hired on rotation to run the 'cafes' and cake shops(the dinner you had was really a microwaved McCains and the cake was Sara Lee)and to behave like locals.

It's a little known fact that even the outside scenes for The Secret life of Us are all computer generated now. Well, there are a few real outside bits but they're done in Altona and the palm trees are added in later.

But seriously, I really, honestly don't think St Kilda is real anymore. Mind you I've been thinking that since 1983 (I was very sophisticated for my 17 years thankyouverymuch), so I don't expect anyone to pay any attention.
