Just came back from my second shopping expedition for "nice" clothes T can wear to a wedding and feel both physically, and mentally, comfortable wearing.

I don't get it. Kmart didn't even seem to have clothes, other than frilly pajamas, for a girl her size. Even the boys clothes were awful. I thought I might be able to find a plain coloured t-shirt to go under an interesting jacket I make, but they don't have 'em.

On Sunday we went to Bridge Rd 'cos I thought she might be old/big enough to wear some of the small size women's stuff - but she's too short in the body for it. I'd had thoughts of some interesting pants and a plainer top, but I've now worked my way back to a pair of black jeans and a reasonable shirt/top - just got to find it!

the whole thing is more complicated because once I have suggested something that is WRONG, T is so busy making sure I know how WRONG that option was, she can't see my next suggestion.

Tomorrow, we try Myer and Esprit. If that fails, we hit Spotlight for a pattern and some fabric. She can be so sidetracked by the "my mum made it for me" factor, I have lots more options.

I realise this is a silly question but if T has strong opinions on what is wrong does she know what is right? Or is it that no shop has the 'right' thing and you are looking for a reasonable stand in? The Mum made it for me may be a goer. Need some help?
