What I want to do
Oct. 10th, 2005 09:49 amMy brain is in list mode again. And I've got two mental lists going - the things I want to do but probably shouldn't. and the things I want to do, and could probably do. Needless to say, the first list is much more appealing - until tomorrow, when I won't be able to walk.
I want to go to IKEA and buy a cupboard to hang SCA clothes in. While I'm there, I could get a prescription filled and see if the larger Coles stocks breadmaking flour. That's probably too much walking.
Interestingly, etching and painting the laundry floor is NOT on my list of things I want to do but shouldn't. I guess I have adapted to my lessened mobility.
OTOH, I will probably spend the day cleaning the kitchen, finishing the bread I started yesterday, making some bum washers out of old towels and my overlocker, making a polar fleece cardy and hat for Rose, sewing together the leggings I've finished knitting, sleeping, supervising T's homework,
T's homework problem is interesting. She has to write about six 100 word research answers on various historical cinema equipment. In two hours of sitting at a computer to do it, she has managed to do 2 of them. I'm wondering if the internet is too distracting and she can't manage to both research the topic and write about it on the computer at the same time. She's much more settled when we sit at the kitchen table together. Would books be better? Or maybe she should just handwrite notes for the research and then put it together for the answers. I think the latter. We can sit at the kitchen table if I get the laptop going again. Another task I can do with limited mobility.
LATER:
Got distracted by domesticity. The dishes are done and the stove cleaned. I even put away last night's leftovers. I also chatted with Z and (at 9.30am) he's just leaving for school. G hasn't left yet though.
Of all the household tasks, I most like having a tidy kitchen and the clothes washing up to date. I can handle most other disorder fairly well (if you've been to my house you know). Actually, I also really appreciate having a clean handbasin and bath. So I guess my household priority list looks like this;
When I've got a Sat morning routine going (when I'm working) I can usually manage to do all of the above AND the bathroom before I lose interest/motivation
that's all I can manage housework wise mostly. Everything else has to wait for my 3 monthly "oh my god, the house is a disaster, I'd better institute the 15 min plan" Where I spend 15 min cleaning up bits of the house (usually the family room) every day or so, until it's been beaten back into a state I can stand again. Fundamentally, I just have too much stuff or not enough storage and I've never really recovered from giving my children their own rooms, so I have to keep my stuff to just the family room. Of course, I can also blame
mr_bassman for his computer/electronics crap that just grows like bread dough everytime we knock it back, but that's not really fair. My fabric and sewing stuff does a similar thing.

- clean and clear kitchen table

- stove clean (if I'm in the bustle of doing dishes, I'll do the stove too - nobody else in my house does though)
- washing undies and socks for me.
- washing towels etc
