How did it get there?
Sep. 11th, 2009 06:00 pmToday I found out I'm presentingn my first ever conference paper...eeep!!!
I'm doing the science fiction theme I blogged about a while ago - imagining a Melbourne where there's no coal fired power stations in Victoria and using history to inform the radical changes that we might have to make to existing buildings and our current work practices so we can keep working in offices.
I'm basing some stuff on the history of Melbourne: The fist power station went online in 1880, but we have office buildings that were built before then - what did they do? For instance, did you know that Melbourne had a high pressure water distribution system that was used to operate lifts in buildings? It operated until at least 1925.
Anyway, I found this pic on my roam around the internet - It's cool!
