It's hot and the day was planned with military precision.

Shopping early, kitten choosing, uniform buying, school book buying and lounging around feeling hot in the afternoon.

We pick up the kitten tomorrow after he's been desexed, immunised, wormed, deflea-ed and microchipped - a bargain at $55.

See, here he is;

I also picked up the calculator I left at my old workplace - they hadn't found it until now!!! Then again, I hadn't worked out that I'd really lost it until I finally cleaned up my desk just before christmas.

So, are you getting a kitten then?

yes... the one pictured...

He's about 5 months old and started purring as soon as I patted him. He kept purring when I picked him up. The kids spent some time chasing a 7week old kitten around the cattery, but I managed to talk them out of adopting that particular bundle of energy and mischief.

I much prefer a proven affectionate cat to one we would have to train to affection.

Cute pink nose, black face mask, he looks just like destructokitty.

I predict much slaying of mouses ahead.

Oh, good choice. Everyone knows that black and white kitties are far superior to all other kinds.

That is such a cute cat. He looks the sort with extremely expressive ears. :)
I'd offer some empty cotton reels for him to play with, but I'm sure you would have some of your own.

What do you do with empty cotton reels?

I've not really done cats very well - the last 2 ran away and before that they were outside cats that eventually got run over.

I'm a crap cat owner - but I hope to do better this time.

One of my friends recently got herself a kitten too ([livejournal.com profile] mistresscarlett), and her kitten-raising book suggested cotton reels for the kitten to attack and bat around on the floor. :)

I know my cats used to love playing with them, whether there was cotton on them or not.

and wine bottle corks are fabulous kitty footballs, the lightest touch and they'll spin and roll great distances! i have a seven-week-old kitten and she loves them to death :0) it also gives me a great excuse for indulging my love of red wine....more toys for her! win/win.
