Rose wasn't upset about the music J downloaded. She'd done one of those really special poo's.

When I got to her, it was rising up her back and staining her skivvy.

When I changed her I had to wipe and roll her several times to get it all and I had to change the nappy underneath too.

While I was changing her I put the full nappy to one side and watched murphy's law in action as it gently rolled off the bench and fell, poo side down, on the laundry floor.

Rose has been eating peas, corn and capsicum lately, so the poo fell to bits as I tried to pick it up and bits of digested peas and corn rolled under the laundry cabinet.

It was one of those experiences.

*sigh* i'm a bit scared of the realities in your journal these days :) in one of the "pregnancy to parenthood" classes we did, we watched a half-hour video of the progression of poo as the baby grows through the first six months. all the colours and textures. yep, it was a good time. i especially liked the dark green one that came after the black tar one ;)

and the next video was about how funny babies look when they come out (in case we were expecting a perfect specimen). there was zany music and lots of babies with crossed eyes, bow legs, pimples, lumps, funny colours, bumps on their skulls, coneheads etc. it was good, but not as good as the poo video :)

hmmm.

Is it bad that I'm wondering if I find the poo video on youtube?

'cos we never got such interesting viewing when I were a lass.

well, i don't know...i dread to think what a "poo" search would come up with. the video's australian, and i think made in the '80s. all the movies we've seen have been from the '80s - apparently they can't get people to volunteer to be in them today. it's funny because the pregnant ladies are all wearing huge crazy smocks with bows and things.

there was another video of a natural birth where this poor lady had been labouring hard in the shower with her husband for about four hours. the next shot was of the husband outside on a chair, all red and panting in his speedos, getting a drink from one of the nurses. he turns around to the camera and goes, "i'm too tired and dehydrated to go on, so i'm having a rest". and his poor wife was in the shower with her hands up against the wall getting ripped apart, all on her own. i told joel not to try that one on if that happens to me!

oh! and in this other one, a lady and her husband were in a folk band and they chose to have two of the other members of their band in the birth with them as well. after the video, one of the ladies in my class put up her hand and told us that she knew that particular couple, and almost straight after the baby was born, the husband left the wife for one of the ladies who'd been in the birth with them :(

it's almost worth enrolling in the pregnancy to parenthood classes just to get a squiz at all these videos, they're funny as ;)

I'm loving these little snapshots into reality. Hoping all this is to come for me in the near future. The breastfeeding posts have been really interesting too. It's a subject that always creates a lot of dialogue.

Only because some of us have needed to call mrsbrown in our moment of desperation. She's very reassuring and fabulous all round!
