While telling Mum about how we've decided that one of our new found financial freedoms is affording to travel to Christchurch, she offered us her frequent flyer points.

I may yet regret this* but I've just booked the trip to Christchurch for the 3 of us for the princely sum of $275. I'll book our return flight after Mum's flown to Chile - Saturday or Sunday.

I guess it's ironic that an international jetsetter like my Mum has no wish to use any of the points she's accrued on travel for herself. Oh well, too bad :)

* The bit I might regret is that the only flights available were on flights operated by Jetstar. As [livejournal.com profile] mr_bassman said, "it's only 3 hours" to which I reply, "with a toddler"

What was that about gift horse and a mouth?
*grin*
That's really cool... I'd love to go but it's truely off the list of possibles at the moment. Plus I could have gotten cheap accom through my hotel chain, oh well.

We flew Jetstar when we headed over for Canterbury Faire. When I booked the tickets, I asked for extra room, they said they didn't do the bulkhead thing, but said they'd see what they could do. Both flights were pretty packed, but they'd managed not to put anyone in the third seat, which was quite helpful and nice of them. It was still a little claustrophobic, but it could've been alot worse.

Miss P travelled fairly well except that the decent into Christchurch was quite steep. We were feeding her on the way down, but it really didn't help much and there were 5 babies who spontaneously all at the same time started screaming. It was the worst part of the flight, coming back was definately much easier.
